About the book |
This book provides from a recent historic
perspective insight about the political processes,
administrative conditions and programmatic operations
that made a co-operation between the EU and the Central
European Countries possible. It can be demonstrated that
successful participation in the European Framework Programmes
for RTD depends on economic development factors and the
level of the national research and innovation systems
of each country under scrutiny. The book also gives a
comparative picture of how the individual Central European
Countries differed from each other in terms of scientific
and technological specialisation patterns, geographical
co-operation patterns and the organisational background
of the engaged research teams under the 4th and 5th European
Framework Programmes for Research, Technological Development
and Demonstration. Finally, practical policy recommendations
for Austrian S&T policy makers and bridging institutions
are provided. |
Über den Autor |
Mag. Dr. Klaus Schuch ist Experte für Forschungs- und
Innovationspolitik und internationale Wissenschafts- und
Technologiepolitik unter besonderer Berücksichtigung
europäischer Forschungs- und Technologieprogramme
sowie anderer internationaler FTE-Programme, Experte für
Bildungs- und Hochschulpolitik in Südosteuropa, 1963
in Wien geboren war er nach seiner Schulausbildung Forschungsstipendiant
des Österreichischen Forschungszentrum Seibersdorf
und danach Assistent am Institut für Wirtschaftsgeographie
an der Wirtschaftsuniversität Wien (1992–1994).
Danach etablierte er die Außenstelle Sofia des Österreichischen
Ost- und Südosteuropainstituts (1995–1996)
und leitete ab Dezember 1996 die Abteilung für internationale
Angelegenheiten am BIT – Büro für internationale
Forschungs- und Technologiekooperation. In dieser Funktion
war er auch mehrere Jahre NCP (national contact point)
für das INCO-Programm. Seit 2001 ist er Wissenschaftswissenschafter
am ZSI – Zentrum für Soziale Innovation, Wien
und seit 2002 auch geschäftsführender Forschungsmanager. |
